DOLLFACE is Emergency Break's powerful new song describing the experiences of a girl struggling through fleeting online fame. The track focuses around fictional character Jane as she wrestles with the overwhelming sensation of going "viral" online, and the eventual fear of being forgotten. The heavy lyrics pack a powerful punch as they describe a constant battle with suicidal ideation and the feelings of needing an escape from life and or reality.
This energetic single is the bands best work yet - the track opens with a repetitive guitar riff, soon followed by the first lyric, "Do you want to risk your life?". This rhetorical question is a bold start to the song, as it recognises how dark having an online presence can be for young people and teenagers. Something as simple as posting a tik tok can eventually lead to something as complicated and scary as death. The bleak statement is important for younger people to hear, as many online companies shy away from talking about the consequences of internet abuse. The first lyrics are soon followed by the sudden and strong entrance of Drums, Bass and Rhythm Guitar, which layered with the vocals create a detailed and impressive sound, reminiscent of previous singles.
Messages like this in the new music scene are so important, as more and more people are being pulled into the dangerous digital world - I can say for sure, Emergency Break are a band that thrive to create detailed and meaningful music that spread awareness on topics that matter. They're a band that never fail to create original songs with a unique, yet recognisable sound. The London originated band have a fun online presence, often holding lives to sit and chat to fans about "Brat Ewan". They have accumulated a community of equally enthusiastic fans, often found through Instagram fan pages or the WhatsApp community. This makes for a very interesting fanbase and certainly no dull days..
The artwork for this single is created by "Ian Rogers", an incredibly talented artist who has managed to perfectly and skilfully capture the energy and tone of the single.
Members of the band include Leo Gerchen on Vocals, Joe Adams on Lead Guitar, Ewan Hawkins on Bass, James Brooks on Drums and Oran Docker on Rhythm Guitar.
