Holly Head, Manchester’s ‘politico-punk’ group release their new single ‘No country Is An Island’, their first of 2026.
I have seen Holly Head before, at the Exchange in Bristol opening for Welly. Their fun and fuzzy rock resonated with the room, and their set was one of my favourite openers I saw in the year.
No Country Is An Island is a powerful, punchy indie tune that you might expect from the likes of Sam Fender, but with a slightly heavier weight. The track holds a flame to the fire that is the anti-immigrant movement of British society, and supplies a harsh and enticing mix of rage and calm. Accompanied by a music video displaying clips of a protesting event, it struck me as an important and needed message in the eyes of British rock. Unique yet profound, the single displays Holly Head’s signature voice, and is possibly my favourite release of theirs yet.
With punchy guitars and head-banging drums, it feels inspired by both indie superstars and rock legends, mingling in between genres to create a satisfying listening experience.
Holly Head are heading (ha) on tour with current powerhouse Westside Cowboy later this year, tickets are available now !
