This interview is the first one I had ever done, and shamefully has been sat in my camera roll for 2 months. However, ive decided at 11pm on a random Friday that its being done! This is a band I discovered coincidentally, they were opening for "Vundabar" on their uk tour, and I am so grateful for that. I wasn't sure id be into their music at first, but "Doorbell" and "Baby steps" are two of my favourite songs of all time. They were so lovely to chat to, and I feel horrible about delaying this for so long, so let's get into it.

I started off by asking them to introduce themselfs, of course. Unfortunately we hadnt recorded the audio for this part so I cant write it up but it was pretty self explanatory.

Then, it was our signature question. "What would your newest single be as a meal deal". Always my favourite to ask.

We had, brilliantly, realised at this point a mic was needed so beloved Ayden came to rescue.

Marlon, singer,: "So we've been asked about meal deals in relation to our newest single."

Lucian, drums: "Egg and cress?"

No one liked that answer. A lot of "What's?"

Marlon hands the phone to Greg.

Greg, guitar: "Definatly not coffee, something relaxing"

Ed, guitar: "Chocolate milkshake?"

They agree on this - Yop, specifically.

The band decide on a hoisin duck wrap, yop and a brownie. Pretty spot on.

Biggest inspirations was next. Boring question really but we can't always be funny. Rock was suggested as a genre, American bands in specifics. Marlon adds on electronic, synthy music - that being what they typically listen to in the van. Alongside Hip-Hop and R&B.

Not all boring though, don't you worry. My only original question, at this point, makes its debut. "Would Wallice And Gromit listen to your music? And if not what Brit-Com characters would."

This really stirred up some thought, I was met with seconds of silence before Marlon starts to say

"I feel like they'd appreciate us" before being cut off by Greg with what seems to be an answer.

"Gromit would, not Wallice."

Marlon disagrees, after being reminded which one was the dog, saying Wallice would like their calmer stuff, such as Jokes On You, whereas Gromit would like their louder music.

Marlon also decides Pingu would listen to Sterling Press, which is believable.

Another boring one! "What's your favourite song to play live?"

Sam, bassist, who is newer to the band and joined them on the tour is asked specifically. He says "Concrete Trampoline, Cus its kinda just as loud as we get". He also lists an unreleased track, which i cannot hear the name of on the recording, and London Girls. Sam's answers are because theyre "groovier", and allow the band to dance and jump around on stage.

"What's your dream show?" Is what follows, a pretty straight-forward one.

Greg and Marlon instantly ask "Dear or alive?" And say it doesnt matter. The audio recording didnt pick up the venue they listed, but they would like to support Nirvana there. The band also list Ally Pally, and Queens Of The Stone Age.

Another weird one I frantically came up with in a maths lesson. "If your band was an animal, what would it be?"

Marlon suggests chameleon, "they change colours a lot- musically we change colours. We also are all quite different. We also argue sometimes, and sometimes we're happy. The general idea of change. Ups and downs, rollarcosters, great highs, big lows."

An unexpectedly thought out answer which is always appreciated. He apolagises a second later for "getting deep".

"How would you describe your music to new listeners?" - reading that question out I fumbled quite a bit. Stutterd through it and mixed up the words. Still embaressed.

Everyone looks to Ed for an answer as no one knows.

"I guess weve changed a lot, so like weve been kind of- we write loads of songs and things change a lot so.. sometimes the music weve done is very old fashioned, kind of like 60s vibes."

They go on to explain theyre just trying to expand what they can do, and dont stick to specific genres for too long. Thats what I like a lot about Stirling Press.

My final, and typical, question. "Any advice for upcoming bands?"

Marlon: "i still feel like were still fairly upcoming, so we'd appreciate advice. I guess just keep ..trying? Thats what were doing."

Pretty good advice actually.

And thats it. An interview ive been procrastinating about for 2 months (again. So sorry to the band,)

These guys are seriously a band I can see going places quickly, such a great group of people who make banger after banger. Today, they have announced a new UK tour which I, and others at Melodify, will be attending multiple shows of.

Thank you so much to Stirling Press for chatting with us. So appreciated!

Stream their newest EP "Dry Run" on all platforms.

Cheers x
